This is a work-at-your-own-pace open lab. Get hands-on experience with the integrated file system and file servers using "green screen" commands and IBM Navigator for i. The following modules are offered in this open lab: Accessing IFS - General Accessing IFS - ASPs Who's Using My Object? Copying in the IFS - Authority Considerations IFS Journaling IFS Security IFS Remote File Systems: NFS, QNTC, QFileSvr.400 Using RTVDIRINF/collect folder attributes results Each topic has exercises for you to perform. Come give them a try and ask questions. Or stop in and try your own thing with the experts here to help you.

Learning Objectives:

Each module provides a different learning experience. Listed below are the activities/concepts you should be familiar with after completing each module. Accessing IFS - General Learn how to define an IBM i Netserver to define file share, map a network drive, and work with file system objects using the mapped drive. Accessing IFS

- ASPs Learn how to create/delete a user-defined file system, mount and un-mount a file system, and work with user-defined file systems. Includes both basic and independent ASPs. Who's Using My Object? Learn how to determine which jobs are using a specific object, what objects are being used by a specific job, and how to investigate "object in use" errors. Copying in the IFS

- Authority Considerations Learn various authority considerations such as owner, primary group, user profile, and public authority using different copy functions and when creating a new directory. IFS Journaling Learn different aspects of journaling objects in the IFS such as start/end journa
