This presentation focuses on the concept and practice of ‘auditing’ in relation to the IBM i. It will review and compare various types of audits (eg, system, software) and commonly-used approaches and tools specific to the IBM i. It will also discuss the challenges to conducting complete and rigorous audits of the entire range of IT activities (including applications) with available technology. Case studies will be drawn upon to illustrate points, including publicly-available information from the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme prosecution case.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will have an understanding of the functions of the different types of IBM i-relevant ‘audits’
2. Gain understanding of available tools to support and enhance their various auditing processes
